A Heartfelt Thank You from Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIM.UG)

Celebrating the Success of the NRC2 Masaka Blood Donation Campaign

In motorsport, every second counts. Drivers push limits, machines roar to life, and fans gather with hearts pounding in rhythm with the engines. But at the NRC2 rally in Masaka, something even more powerful took place a quiet, selfless act of humanity that echoed louder than any engine could.

Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIM.UG) organized a Blood Donation Campaign during the rally weekend, bringing together competitors, fans, and stakeholders for a cause far greater than trophies and podiums: saving lives.

Racing for Humanity

We want to extend our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to everyone who participated in this noble initiative. Whether you donated blood, helped organize, encouraged others, or simply showed up in support, you made a difference.

Amid the heat and high stakes of the rally, you paused to give part of yourself so someone else might live. That, in our eyes, is the ultimate show of strength and sportsmanship.

Drivers, co-drivers, officials, fans, and even support teams stepped up without hesitation. You are the real MVPs, the heroes behind the helmets and banners.

Applause from the Paddock

The initiative didn’t just capture hearts, it earned praise from some of Uganda’s top rally drivers, a testament to the growing synergy between sport and social impact.

Isaac Ssozi and Champion Nasser Mutebi, two respected figures in the local motorsport scene, publicly commended the campaign. They noted that a blood drive of this nature was “really overdue,” and applauded WIM.UG for taking leadership on such a critical issue.

Their support reflects a shifting mindset in motorsport, that rallying isn’t just about competing, but also about using the platform to drive meaningful change in society.

A Collective Effort: Partners in Purpose

No great initiative succeeds in isolation. We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners who stood by us and made this campaign possible:

  • Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (Kitovu Branch) – for your professionalism, dedication, and life-saving expertise.
  • Worldwide Movers – for supporting logistics and rallying behind the cause.
  • Nash Rally Team – for being a strong voice and presence both on and off the track.
  • Uganda Red Cross Society – for your trusted partnership and on-ground support.
  • Rotaract Club Masaka – for mobilizing young changemakers to step up.
  • Nabugabo Sand Beach – for contributing resources and hosting efforts.
  • Sumz Snacks – for keeping our volunteers and donors energized.
  • Together as One Enterprises Ltd – for standing in solidarity with our mission.

Your generosity, whether in kind, in time, or in voice, helped transform this campaign from an idea into a movement.

Women Leading the Way

To our fellow Women in Motorsport, this is your victory too. You showed up in numbers, coordinated with excellence, and inspired with compassion. You reminded us that women in rallying are not just navigating stages but driving transformation. Your example paves the way for a new generation of women who believe in the power of motorsport to heal, to unite, and to serve.

The Impact: Numbers That Matter

We are proud to announce that a total of 41 litres of blood were collected during the NRC2 Masaka event. That’s not just a statistic it’s the potential to save over 120 lives.

In a country where the need for blood donations is critical and continuous, this contribution sends a powerful message: Motorsport communities care.

The Road Ahead

This campaign was not a one-off. It was a starting point. Our goal is to integrate blood donation and other humanitarian efforts into more motorsport events across the calendar. We believe that our sport can be a force for good, reaching people where they are and inspiring action through shared passion.

We invite all stakeholders, teams, sponsors, federations, fans, and friends to continue supporting this life-saving journey. Let’s make it a tradition to race with heart, not just horsepower.

Be the Reason for Someone’s Heartbeat

As we look back at NRC2 Masaka with pride, we look forward with purpose. The blood you gave, the support you offered, and the love you showed will live on in every life saved.

Thank you for being a part of this. Thank you for choosing to make a difference.

The initiative, which sought to provide much needed support, brought joy and smiles to many, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

The hospital administrator and head nurse expressed their deep gratitude, highlighting the importance of such timely and thoughtful donations. “This donation came at the right time,” they remarked, acknowledging the positive effect it had on both the patients and the broader community. It was a gesture that not only brightened the day of those in need but also reinforced the power of kindness in times of hardship.

The success of this initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of a wide array of partners. Key contributors included Softcare, World Wide Movers, Drugs Express, Redsun International, Sumz Snacks, Rora Media, Terra Bonum Safari, Spice FM Hoima, Kako Media, Roan Pictures, UNOC, Miika Resort Hotel, the Hoima City Mayor, the Nash Rally Team, the Bisanirizo Rally Team, and The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. Their collective efforts showcased the spirit of unity and collaboration that made the event a success, as each partner played a vital role in uplifting and empowering the Hoima community.

The support extended to the boda boda riders of Hoima City also did not go unnoticed. This often-overlooked group of workers, who play a significant role in the local economy, received reflector Jackets that reminded them of the value of their work and the importance of community solidarity. Through this initiative, Women in Motorsport Uganda not only provided essential resources but also helped to raise Road safety awareness.

This initiative is a testament to how motorsport and its stakeholders can drive meaningful change beyond the race track. Women in Motorsport Uganda’s commitment to promoting community well being and their continued efforts to inspire others to take part in such charitable endeavors remain at the heart of their mission. This act of kindness serves as a reminder that, no matter the industry, compassion and care for others can make a significant impact.

As the Women in Motorsport Uganda continue to bring smiles to communities across the country, their work serves as an inspiration for others to join in the effort of giving back. Through their passion for motorsport and their dedication to service, they are not only making a difference in the world of racing but also in the lives of those who need it most.

Additionally, the continued support of organizations like Rora Media, Sports Drugs Express, Spice FM 89.9 Hoima, NBS Sport Ug, and Redsun International is helping to spread the message of community-driven change across the country.

Women in Motorsport Uganda also draws inspiration from global initiatives like FIA Women in Motorsport, FIM Women in Motorcycling, girls on Track, FMU and the National Council of Sports to guide their efforts in empowering and uplifting their local communities.

FIA Girls on Track Introduced in Rwanda

A Groundbreaking Opportunity for Young Girls in Motorsport

During the Annual FIA General Assembly and Annual Awards, a groundbreaking initiative was introduced in Rwanda – the FIA Girls on Track program. This exciting project offered an incredible opportunity for young girls in Rwanda to experience karting for the very first time, marking a significant step forward in encouraging female participation in motorsport.

The FIA Girls on Track program is part of a global initiative aimed at inspiring and nurturing the next generation of female motorsport talent. It provides young girls with the chance to try out various motorsport disciplines, such as karting, and to meet mentors and role models from the industry. This year, the program was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the Rwandan community, and it was an unforgettable experience for all the participants.

One of the standout contributors to the program was Monica Birwinyo, a key member of Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIM) and a well-respected figure in the motorsport world. Monica, who brings years of experience in both rallying and karting, played a crucial role as one of the facilitators for the program. With her passion for motorsport and dedication to promoting women’s involvement in the sport, she took on the task of mentoring the young girls throughout their karting experience.

Monica’s contribution went beyond simply offering technical guidance on karting. Drawing from her own extensive background in rallying and karting, she delivered insightful introductory lectures that helped the girls understand the mechanics and strategies involved in motorsport. Her approach was both practical and motivational, ensuring the participants not only gained hands-on experience but also felt empowered to pursue their own paths within the industry.

Through the program, the girls were able to get a feel for the thrill of karting, a sport often seen as the starting point for many motorsport careers. It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and the opportunity to break down barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.

The success of FIA Girls on Track in Rwanda marks an important milestone in the ongoing effort to create more opportunities for girls and women in motorsport. By offering them a chance to engage with the sport and develop essential skills, the program helps challenge stereotypes and highlights the immense potential for women to thrive in motorsport at all levels.

As the program continues to grow, the hope is that it will inspire more girls to take up motorsport and pursue their dreams, just as Monica Birwinyo has done throughout her own career. The impact of such initiatives goes beyond the track—it fosters a sense of community, empowerment, and ambition that will drive the future of motorsport in Rwanda and beyond.

Together, we can accelerate change and open doors to new possibilities for the next generation of women in motorsport.
